ODM leader Raila Odinga on Friday led political leaders to Turkana County where he will spend the next three days popularising the Building Bridges Initiative in the county.
Odinga said the initiative will see the county double its budgetary allocation from Sh. 10 billion to Sh. 20 billion.
“The initiative will help address unemployment affecting the youth by giving them four years tax break and exempting graduates from repaying HELB loans for seven years,” he said.
Odinga hit out at Deputy President William Ruto for allegedly misleading the youth by donating to them wheelbarrows instead of investing in modern technology.
He said the DP promised to create jobs and invest in laptops for class one pupils eight years ago but was now advocating for manual jobs for the youth.
Other leaders present were Petroleum and mining CS John Munyes, Suna MP Junet Mohammed, Mishi Mboko, Gladys Wanga, Babu Owino, Geoffrey Osotsi, Jeremiah Lomurukai. Munyes said the county is behind the BBI.
“As a jubilee member I am fully behind BBI and we shall ensure it is passed,” said Munyes.
However area Govenor Josphat Nanok and area MP John Lodepe who despite being elected on ODM ticket did not attend the meeting held in Lodwar.
The two have given indications of supporting the DP camp which is opposed to the BBI.
