Raging Floods Claim 8 year old boy in Mt. Elgon

A Pre-Primary Two (PP2) pupil at Chesinende Primary School died after being rescued from flood waters following heavy rains in Toboo area of Bungoma County.

The child succumbed to injuries sustained after raging flash floods swept him before he was rescued during the Tuesday incident in Mt Elgon Sub county

According to the boy’s father Robert Ndiema, his son, Joshua Korir slipped into a stream feeding Mintililwet River on his way to Mintililwet Village from  Kabozwo shopping centre when the tragedy struck.

Ndiema added that the boy was rescued by well-wishers and rushed to Sikotia Medical Centre Kaptama where he was referred to Webuye Sub County Hospital.

He however succumbed to sustained injuries, was pronounced dead on arrival and the body taken to Webuye Sub County Hospital Mortuary pending autopsy.

Mt. Elgon sub county Commander of Police Samwel Anampiu confirmed that the incident was reported at Kaptama Police Station on Wednesday, October 30.
