Persons with disabilities (PWDs) from Laikipia County have been trained on how to acquire government procurement opportunities.
The one-day training conducted by Light for the World (LFTW) also focused on business registration and good record keeping.
At the same time, the PWDs were encouraged to ensure they have genuine documents when doing business to enhance credibility and trustworthiness in the market.
The training conducted at a Nanyuki Hotel on Tuesday drew Disability Persons Organization (DPOs) from 12 different self-help groups, they were trained on how to tap from government procurement opportunities and other profitable business practices.
LFTW field officer David Ndung’u who conducted the training said that for Persons With Disabilities to be in a competitive position must register what they are involved with to be legally recognized by the government.
“If you are a person with a disability and entrepreneur, register a business and go out there and look for opportunities, we will help you through linkages and financing once you get tenders,” he noted.
Ndung’u added that they were targeting to advocate and economically empower communities through inclusive collaborations in Laikipia, Machakos, Migori, Homa Bay and Nairobi.
