PWDs in Navakholo benefit from toolkits from NFDK

The National Fund for the Disabled of Kenya (NFDK), has donated tools of trade to 21 People with Disabilities in Navakholo Sub-county in Kakamega.

The tools of trade worth a total of Sh800, 000 included hair salon kits, welding tool kits, carpentry kits and livestock in form of cheque among others. The beneficiaries had applied for support from the Fund.

While distributing the tools, NFDK Programmes Officer, Amos Okeyo Mkenye, asked beneficiaries to utilize the toolkits to generate income and support themselves and their families.

Mkenye asked other PWDs, to apply for support from the Fund, while asking those who have benefited to be ambassadors to those who were yet to benefit.

The Chair of Navakholo Disability Initiative Group, Berthez Wechuli, thanked NFDK for supporting them with the tools, especially to those in remote parts of Kakamega County.

He said apart from the tools of trade, the NFDK has improved infrastructure and created conducive spaces for persons with disabilities in various institutions in the Sub-county, aiding their mobility.

Mkenye called upon the government and other willing partners to join hands with the Fund, in order to support many other persons with disabilities to sustain their families instead of begging in streets.

Wechuli noted that with the toolkits, the beneficiaries would afford basic necessities and cater for their families.
