Purko communities agree on developments

Narok Governor Mr. Patrick Ntutu has said the county government has reached an agreement with local Purko communities on the building of a multimillion milk processing plant and an industrial park at the Limanet community land.

The engagement that drew the county government leadership and the local communities from Limanet, Ilmashariani and Morijo in Narok met and reached an agreement on developments in the Limanet community land that was set aside in 1972.

While addressing the press Thursday after the meeting with the communities, Ntutu said that the said project developments will commence soon, noting that these developments will be a game changer for the residents of Narok as they will create many job opportunities and markets for residents.

He reiterated that the Cabinet Secretary in charge of Cooperative and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Mr. Simon Chelugui toured Narok this week and met farmers and discussed the need to build a multimillion milk processing plant in Narok County to boost milk productivity and farmers’ income.

Former councilor of Imashariani ward in Narok town Mr. Rimonie Sodro who spoke on behalf of the community said the land that was set aside by the community in the early seventies is for development.

He added that the county government had already built a slaughterhouse that is serving the local people in town and the community living around.

Sodro noted that it is high time for the community to embrace developments from the government, saying that the community lagged behind on developments, yet the land was set aside for developments that benefit the residents.
