Pupil commits suicide, Chepalungu

Bomet police are investigating an incident where a class six pupil committed suicide by hanging himself .

The deceased 12-year-old boy is said to have killed himself for unknown reasons.

The  body of the boy from Kimatisio village is said to have been found by his grandfather hanging on a piece of cloth.

Area  Chief, David  Marusoi confirmed the incident saying police would take statements from his parents once they get over their grief.

Area  Kenya National Union of Teachers( KNUT ) executive Secretary, Molel  Langat has meanwhile blamed parents for neglecting their duties of guiding and counselling their children.

Langat said parents have left the responsibility solely to teachers who he said may not have full information on the plight of the learners.

He called on parents to be closer to their children and address their psychological issues so as to avoid incidents of teenage suicide.

Meanwhile, the body has been moved to Longisa Hospital morgue.
