PS visits Kericho to assess fabrication of chairs and lockers for students

Post Training and Skills Development PS Dr. Alfred Cheruiyot has called upon the Jua Kali artisans and carpenters who won Government tenders to fabricate chairs and lockers for primary and secondary school students to fast track the works and ensure that the items were dispatched to the schools.
Dr. Cheruiyot who visited Sondu Market workshop, Sigowet, Kiptere market, Kiptere Vocational Training Centre and Chepnyogaa market workshops Tuesday expressed satisfaction on the progress made so far in the fabrication of the chairs and lockers in the workshops but asked for fast tracking of the same.

The PS who was accompanied by the Kericho County Director of Education, Mr. Zachary Mutuiri said that he visited the County to also access the progress of works by the artisans.
He added that  artisans were following the given specifications adding that the deadline of supplying the desks, chairs and lockers was  November 3, 2020. The PS said the artisans, have been given some more few days to finish the works.
On the rising cases of Covid-19 in the Country, Cheruiyot said that schools would have to manage the cases, adding closing them would not be a solution. He said that learners must all wear masks, wash their hands at every given designated washing points in the school and observe social distance.
The Post Training and Skill Development PS said that it is high time we learn to live with the disease by managing and observing the health guidelines to keep the disease at bay while we continue with other economic and education programmes.
On his part, Mutuiri said that learners who opened school were learning safely and all the directives on Covid-19 management were being followed to the letter.
He added that no student in Kericho has been affected by the disease.
