Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Ms. Mary Muthoni, joined the Muslim faithful for an iftar in Kerugoya town, Kirinyaga County.
Ms. Muthoni, who was accompanied by the Kirinyaga County Commissioner, Mr. Hussain Alasow and other local leaders, called on the Muslim community and Kirinyaga residents in general to exercise tolerance, embrace togetherness and pray for the leaders ahead of the president’s tour of the Mt. Kenya region next week for the betterment of the country.
Muthoni lauded the recent directive by the president that Muslims should be given a national identity card without much vetting. The move will enable many of them to acquire ID’s easily, which will enable them to register for the health insurance fund.
She urged them to ensure they register with SHA, for it will ease the burden of paying huge bills in health facilities.
Kirinyaga County Commissioner Hussein Allasow said that the president’s directive is a relief to the Muslim community because they have been suffering a lot due to lack of ID cards, but now they are able to apply for the document, which is going to help them enjoy government services.
The MCAs, led by Bosco Gichangi, urged the locals to turn out in large numbers to welcome President William Ruto during his tour of development projects in the county on Wednesday next week.
