PS Ahmed Ibrahim assumes office

The newly appointed Principal Secretary (PS) for State Department for National Government Coordination Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim has committed to ensuring that all government-funded projects being undertaken in his department have an impact on the lives of Kenyans.

Mr. Ibrahim said he will also ensure proper coordination and networking are enhanced at both the planning process and implementation period for sustainability and to reduce inefficiency.

“I will ensure that it is not only coordination, but also that the projects are well coordinated,” he stated.

He at the same time noted that projects being undertaken should be strongly supported by budgetary allocation required for them to realize the dreams of Kenyans.

The PS was speaking on Thursday when he assumed office at Railways Building in Nairobi, while accompanied by the Garsen Member of Parliament, Ali Wario, where he was received by the Principal Administrative Secretary Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Juliana Yiapan, and Secretary Administration Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Tom Anjere.

Ibrahim said he will also ensure fair distribution of resources across the country and proper security measures are put in place to avoid vandalism of projects.

The PS however noted that negligence by officers implementing projects causes delays thereby making some projects stagnate due to accumulated costs, an issue he noted needs to be addressed critically.

“Monitoring and evaluation of ongoing projects should be done by officers regularly, as it will help to solve bottlenecks existing in various departments involved in the projects dealing with service delivery,” said Ibrahim.

He observed that the task ahead was big but expressed confidence that with resilient and able staff, he has no doubt that the state department will achieve the required targets.
