The Catholic Archbishop of Kisumu, Right Reverend Philip Anyolo has called on Kenyans to prioritize the safety of children against Covid 19 as the education calendar kicks off.
Archbishop Anyolo said both the government and members of the public must put in place mechanisms to ensure that no child falls victim of Covid 19.
He was speaking Wednesday at St. Pantaleon Catholic church in Siaya town after officially opening an adoration chapel in the parish.
The prelate said that the church has, through its education department, put in place extra measures to help students and pupils in Catholic sponsored schools deal with the pandemic.
Archbishop Anyolo called on Kenyans to strictly adhere to the ministry of health protocols that encourage hand washing, social distance and wearing of masks.
“Covid 19 is still here with us. I urge and encourage Kenyans to be careful and follow the protocols,” he said.
He however urged Kenyans not to lose hope, adding that though last year, 2020 was tough, there was need for the citizens to work harder this year.
“Kenyans are so resilient and committed to human development and spiritual purposes. This is another chance for us Kenyans to make a notch higher in our lives with a transformed mind,” said the archbishop.
Archbishop Anyolo urged Kenyans to be united and always pull their resources together during times of needs.
