The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in Tharaka-Nithi is all set for the polls tomorrow, as the last batch of ballot papers arrive in the County.
The first batch of ballot papers for various elective posts arrived, Thursday, with the exception of the presidential lot which was received yesterday.
Chuka Deputy County Commissioner, Nkaduda Hiribae said that they have confirmed that all ballot boxes are in the County and the Commission is ready for the elections.
“We have confirmed the ballot boxes are in good condition and all that remains is for citizens to come out and vote,” he said.
The deputy county commissioner assured that they have distributed all the sensitive and non- sensitive materials necessary to conduct the elections to all polling stations.
Josephine Mwiti, Returning Officer (RO) at Chuka Boys Tallying Centre, confirmed they have received all ballot papers, including those of the presidential poll.
“We have received all the ballot papers now and we are ready. We also have enough security from the police and other security agencies,” she said
Ms. Mwiti said that IEBC has trained and deployed all the polling agents, polling clerks and observers ahead of the D-day.
The RO disclosed that the personnel are well trained and equipped with basic electoral knowledge and skills.
She assured the Commission is ready for election in the 233 Polling Stations in Chuka Constituency.
Mwiti urged residents to maintain peace and come out to vote as the electoral agency will ensure free and fair elections.
