United Democratic Alliance party Chairman of Resource Mobilization, Political and Diaspora affairs, Charles Chweya Matoke has expressed his support for President William Ruto over his stance on tough decisions on development saying they may not be popular with common Mwananchi but were good for the country.
Matoke said it was not easy for the government, which had been running without adequate resources.
He was speaking in Masimba ward on Wednesday, Nyaribari Masaba Constituency, Kisii County when he accompanied South Mogirango Legislator Silvanus Osoro to give residents Christmas tokens.
However, Matoke noted that the government had undertaken a journey to liberate the country by prioritizing production against consumption and servicing the Eurobond which had come to maturity.
These measures, he said, had given the government favor before the international community including the World Bank and International Monetary Fund among others, and soon the economy will be on a trajectory chart urging residents to be optimistic that the economy will become better in the coming.
The chairman also appealed to the residents to prevent gender-based violence especially Female Genital Mutilation and defilement which he said were a major cause of early pregnancy and other forms of Gender Based Violence in the area.
He called upon parents to care for their children during the Christmas festivities.
“Celebrate in moderation knowing January is a financially dry month,” said Matoke.
