Preparations for this year’s Madaraka day celebrations to be held on the 1st of June at Masinde Muliro stadium, Kanduyi in Bungoma County are at an advanced stage.
The Principal Secretary (P.S), State Department for Internal Security and National Administration Dr. Raymond Omolo on Wednesday led a team of the technical and steering committee members on an inspection tour of the facility and expressed satisfaction at the progress made by the contractors in ensuring the stadium is ready and to the expected standards.
The PS said that the stadium was expected to host over 14,700 people and asked members of the public to turn up in large numbers for the event which is will be held in Bungoma County for the first time.
He said that the theme of the day is ‘focusing on the agricultural sector’ and that the Ministry of Agriculture has organized an exhibition from the 27th to 30t h May at Kibabii University grounds to showcase various aspects of agricultural skills.
Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka thanked all stakeholders who had participated in bringing the stadium to the level it has reached.
He asked all Kenyans from all walks of life to attend the occasion in large numbers.
