Heavy downpour has resulted in power outage in three counties, Garissa, Tana River and Lamu.
According to Hola substation Kenya Power officer in charge, Joseph Ndegwa, about seven poles went down along Marereni -Malindi highway following the downpour hence the outage.
He said a team of engineers from Malindi were on site at Marereni area to ensure that power supply in Ijara, Fafi, Bura North, Lamu and Hola which was disrupted from 2pm on Sunday is restored.
Ndegwa appealed to the customers to bear with them as the fault lines caused by the downfall was being put in place.
Meanwhile, businesses are on a standstill as petrol stations, hardware shops, pharmaceutical shops closed early as power blackout hit the region over fear of Al shabaab attacks in the darkness.
However, a multi-agency security apparatus were patrolling the region for any eventualities.
