The Kenya Power and lighting Nyandarua branch has decried the rising number of cases of illegal power connectivity in the area.
According to the County Kenya Power Business Manager Simon Muturi, the growth of power connectivity in the county had created room for unscrupulous electricians who were connecting customers to power lines illegally.
This, he said, had resulted to the company incurring losses noting that those found using illegal connections will have to pay for the power they had used.
“Illegal connections has resulted to power overload to transformers which is causing frequent blackouts. Illegal connections also poses a life threat as most of them are not properly installed,” he added.
The manager who was speaking during a crackdown on illegal connections in various towns across the county, noted that tough actions will be taken against those connecting power to people illegally.
