Kenya has now surpassed the 10,000 mark after 379 people Sunday turned positive for the corona virus after 7,050 were tested in the last 24 hours.
The number now brings total caseload in the country to 10,105 and cumulative number of tests conducted so far standing at 215,037.
In a press release on Sunday, the Health Cabinet Secretary (CS), Mutahi Kagwe said that out of the number for Sunday, 376 were Kenyans while 3 were foreigners, with 253 being males and 126 of them female. The youngest was a two years old child and the oldest was 97.
In terms of distribution, Nairobi recorded the highest number at 209, followed by Kiambu 49, Busia 38, Migori 19, Mombasa 16, Kajiado 12, Uasin-Gwashu 8, Lamu 6, Machakos and Nakuru 5 cases each, Narok, Wajir and Kisumu 2 cases each, and one case each in Garissa, Isiolo, Kericho, Nyamira, Nyeri and Trans-Nzoia counties.
At sub-counties level the cases were distributed as follows: Nairobi’s Kibra (52), Langata (45), Kamukunji (28), Dagoretti North and Makadara (17) cases each, Embakasi Central (9), Embakasi East (8), Westlands (7), 4 cases each in Dagoretti South, Embakasi West, Kasarani and Roysambu, and 2 cases each in Ruaraka and Embakasi South. Mathare and Starehe had 1 case each.
The 49 cases in Kiambu were in Ruiru (16), Kiambu Town (15), Lari (7), Kikuyu (4), Limuru and Thika (2) cases each, Gatundu South, Kabete and Kiambaa (1) case each.
Busia’s the 38 cases were in Teso North (18), Matayos (15) and Teso South (5) cases while in Migori the 19 cases were in Suna East and Kuria East (7) cases each, Kuria West (5). In Mombasa, the 16 cases were in Mvita (9), Jomvu (4), Nyali (2), and (1) case in Likoni.
The cases in Kajiado county were distributed as follow: Kajiado East (7), and Kajiado North (3) and Kajiado Central (2) cases. In Uasin-Gishu, all (8) cases were in Turbo.
In Lamu, all (6) cases were in Lamu West while in Machakos, the 5 cases were in Kathiani (3) and (2) in Athi River.
The 5 cases in Nakuru were distributed in Naivasha (4) and (1) in Nakuru West while the 2 cases in Kisumu were in Muhoroni and Nyando. In Narok the 2 cases were in Narok North. The 2 cases of Wajir County were one in Wajir East and one in Fafi. Nyamira’s case was in Nyamira Town, Nyeri’s in Kieni, and Trans-Nzoia’s in Kiminini sub counties
Kagwe said that there were 49 discharges from various hospitals today bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,881. However, the CS said, one more patient was lost bringing cumulative fatality now to 185.
