Politicians urged not to interfere with teachers posting

Njoro Sub-county Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), David Mbevi, has urged politicians to stop interfering with the employment process of teachers, saying that it is a major ingredient to lowering of the education standards in the Country.

Speaking in Njoro, the DCC noted that politicians aid the deployed teachers move to schools of their choice, not putting in mind who will take-up their roles in the schools they were initially sent to by their employer, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).

“The TSC does balanced placement of teachers and for this, they know where to put emphasis on when need be. If most teachers sought to get alternative schools with the help of politicians, then this compromises the education standards in the affected schools,” noted the DCC.

He further advised the teachers to fully accept the task ahead of them and deliver, irrespective of the challenges encountered and this, according to him will give the appropriate attention required by the learners.

“By doing this, it will promote harmony and will be a show of growing beyond the pull of tribe within the Country, giving each learner an equal opportunity to maximize their potential,” noted Mbevi.

He insisted on the need for politicians to support TSC’s efforts, and motivate teachers to perform their responsibilities in the schools they are deployed to work, for peaceful co-existence among different communities in the Country.
