A man who has been on the run for the past one month after assaulting his wife was arrested at Sultan Hamud on Saturday by police in Mukaa Sub-county.
James Mwendo Maweu is being detained at the Sultan Hamud police station and will be arraigned in court on Monday.
“The man was tracked by police using modern technology that smoked him out of his hideout,” said the County Commissioner (CC), Maalim Mohammed, while speaking to KNA on phone Sunday.
Consequently, Mohammed has issued stern warning against would be culprits found engaging in Gender Based Violence (GBV), rape and defilement cases that they will face the full force of law.
He also urged couples to dialogue in a bid to resolve domestic quarrels, adding that the government will fight hard to end such societal vices that were rampant in the area.
“Defilement, rape cases and the business of beating women in modern times must come to an end. God has given us brains to reason and resolve our differences amicably without fighting,” said Mohammed.
He reminded Kenyans that the constitution protects everyone, including women and those found doing the contrary will be prosecuted.
