Suspected Al Shabaab militants on Thursday night raided two police camps in Fino, Mandera East Sub County in a daring night attack.
The gunmen who raided the area at 2.30 am later attacked villagers killing two civilians after police repulsed them.
The two, a man and son were killed in cold blood, the man is a National Police Reservist, NPR.
Mandera County Commissioner Mr Onesmus Kytha confirmed the incident saying the militants were repulsed by the police officers after they received intelligent reports from the local community.
Kytha said the government will not relent on the war on terror adding that security has been beefed up along the border towns to avert future attacks.
The County commissioner thanked locals for their timely information and asked them to cooperate with the security agencies from that region to deter further terror incidents.
This comes barely two months after an operation involving Kenya Defense Forces (KDF), Special Forces and police left an Al Shabaab militia dead during a midnight operation that was conducted in the same Fino Lafey sub county Mandera county.
The region has been known for constant terror attacks, some 28 teachers were killed in 2014 with many security agents injured and killed by Al Shabaab militants.
