Police recover stolen livestock in Kisumu County

Police officers at Chiga Police Post in Kisumu County have successfully recovered three stolen cows and a goat.

The animals were stolen from Obumba Sub-location in Muhoroni Sub-County over the weekend.

Security personnel who were acting on a tip off by local residents made the recovery early Monday morning at 3am in Bondo village, along the Chiga-Rabour road.

According to a statement from Kasagam Police Station, the herd was being driven by unknown persons, who escaped when confronted by the patrol team.

“It is suspected that the stolen herd was being escorted to Rabour slaughterhouse,” reads the statement in part.

The recovered livestock were returned to the owner, Frederick Odhiambo. He indicated that this was the second time rustlers targeted his home. In September 2024, two cows were stolen, but only one was recovered.

In a separate operation, security teams in Muhoroni Sub-County found two cows stolen over the weekend from John Owino’s home in Okwach village, Nyangoma Location. These animals were recovered in Sosok village, Tinderet Sub-County.
