A 5-day search for a 52 year old woman ended on a sad note yesterday afternoon after her decomposing body was found locked in her house at Piave village within Njoro Sub County.
Ruth Kinyua’s body that had deep stab wounds was discovered on her bed with hands and legs tied with ropes. She was last seen entering her house on Valentine’s Day.
Emotions ran high as police and the public moved in to retrieve the body before removing it to Egerton University Funeral Home.
Confirming the incident Nakuru Police Commander Stephen Matu said Ms Kinyua’s sister got concerned after her phone went off. On enquiring further she was informed that she had not been at her work place for a couple of days.
“She sensed something was wrong and reported the matter to police. The family had mounted a fruitless search for her,” said the Police commander.
Matu said police are treating the incident as murder though no suspect has been arrested.
At the scene police recovered a knife and a piece of timber believed to have been used by the assailant(s) to kill her.
“We have launched intensive investigations and any member of public who could be having useful tips about the incident should report to the nearest police station. We will treat such information with utmost confidence,” he said.
