A  police officer is fighting for his life at Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital after he was attacked and seriously injured by a group of gangsters who also snatched a loaded pistol from him within Homa Bay Town.

The officer attached to Homa Bay Police station was attacked by a group of four men who were armed with crude weapons while on his way back to the station from a night patrol this morning.

Confirming the incident to KNA, Homa Bay County Police Commander (CPC), Esther  Seroney said that the officer was attacked at around 3:00am by the suspects who descended on him with crude weapons inflicting serious deep cuts on his head.

Seroney  added that the officer who was alone during the attack was overpowered by the gangsters after hitting his head severally with a sharp object leaving him with serious injuries.

She further said that in the process the suspects snatched a Cesca pistol from the officer fully loaded with 15 rounds of ammunition before they disappeared to unknown location.
