A total of twelve police officers working in Murang’a County have been promoted to senior ranks following recently concluded interviews.
Among those who were promoted are two sub county police commanders who rose to the rank of commissioner of police, five officers rose to the position of senior superintendent of police and another five got promoted to rank of superintendent of police.
The promoted officers were drawn from the Kenya Police Service, Administration Police Service, and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
According to the county police commander, Benjamin Kimwele, the promotions are part of the ongoing police reforms, which are intended to reward exemplary service, enhance leadership within the force and improve public safety.
Hailing the promotions, Kimwele expressed confidence that the promoted officers would enhance security efforts in the county confirming that some parts of Murang’a have been hit by a wave of crime in the recent past.
“These promotions recognize the dedication and hard work of our officers. We expect them to take up their new roles with even greater commitment to serving the people of Murang’a” remarked the commander.
Kimwele observed that greater ranks come with greater responsibility adding that to whom much is given much is expected.
He urged all promoted officers to lead by example, mentor their juniors, and uphold the values of integrity, professionalism, and accountability in their service.
On her part, the County Commander Administration Police Service (CC-APS) Pauline Muriithi, stated that promotion is not just a reward but a call to serve with even more diligence, professionalism, and integrity.
She emphasized that as the officers rose in rank, the expectations placed upon them also increased.
Ms. Muriithi reminded the promoted officers that the people of Murang’a County and Kenya as a whole are counting on them to maintain law and order, protect lives and property, and uphold the highest ethical standards in their service.
“To all the officers being elevated today, I extend my heartfelt congratulations. Your hard work, discipline, and unwavering dedication to duty have not gone unnoticed. Today, we recognize your efforts and entrust you with even greater responsibilities,” Ms Muriithi remarked.
Praising the officers, the County Criminal Investigations Officer (CCIO), Obed Kibiego said with the motivation of promotion the officers are expected to boost crime investigation efforts in the county.
“With more senior officers in place, we anticipate improved efficiency in handling criminal cases, especially in areas with high crime rates. This is a step in the right direction,” He noted.
Among those promoted in Murang’a County are officers tasked with leading crime prevention efforts, community policing, and investigative duties.
The county police commander stated that the newly promoted officers will assume their roles immediately, with some expected to be transferred to different stations based on security needs.
