Police Officer Kills A Bar Owner over Sh450 Bill

A police officer in Kipsaraman, Baringo North allegedly stabbed a 43-year old bar owner who later succumbed due to knife injuries after he refused to pay a Sh450 bill.

Baringo County Police Commander Robinson Ndiwa while confirming the incident on Tuesday said Reuben Cherotich was stabbed on the neck by Victor Korir at around 1 am on Monday.

Ndiwa added that the scuffle followed a disagreement after the deceased asked the officer to pay for his bill.

“I am confirming an incident that happened yesterday at Kipsaraman where a police officer murdered a bar owner after he was asked to pay his bill,” Ndiwa said.

“The incident was reported and we immediately dispatched some officers to the crime scene, the suspect has since been arrested waiting to be arraigned at Kabarnet Law Court for murder,” he added.

The police boss added that the deceased’s wife has recorded a statement with them as the body was being moved to Baringo County Referral Hospital Mortuary.

Ndiwa has urged bar owners and the public at large to observe the curfew rules so as to avoid such incidents.
