Police looking for gang that terrorized public at Mnarani

Police in Kilifi are on the lookout for a 3-member gang that allegedly raped three women and stole their valuables including mobile phones at Mnarani Township in the outskirts of Kilifi town at the weekend.

The  Kilifi County Police Commander, Patrick  Okeri  said night patrols have been ongoing since then, but the criminals who wore police jungle jackets are yet to be identified.

Okeri  therefore appealed to members of the public to report anyone they suspect to be a member of that gang.

“It is a pity that some of these criminals are known by the members of the public, but they have never volunteered information to us even after giving them assurance that the reports would be treated with confidentiality,” he said.

Okeri  confirmed to the press that the attackers were not policemen but criminals, even though they dressed in jungle police jackets.

He said, “Criminals have been illegally accessing police uniforms which they use while engaging in crime. The attackers were not armed with guns but crude weapons, he added.

Meanwhile, Okeri confirmed that last weekend, a man suspected to be among criminals who have been robbing Mpesa shops in the town lately was gunned down at Misufini area in the outskirts of Kilifi town.
