Police launch investigations into murder case in Marsabit town

Police in Marsabit have launched investigations into a murder involving a 30-year-old man that happened on Monday night at Manyatta Willy on the outskirts of Marsabit Town.

Marsabit County Police Commander Steve Oloo said the middle aged man was killed by unknown people reportedly at around 10 pm about three kilometers from the town centre.

Mr Oloo told KNA that a report made to the Marsabit Police Station at around 10:30 pm that the body of a man had been found lying on the road in a pool of blood.

The county police commander said police officers who were dispatched to the area found the body of the victim at the scene with his throat slit by a sharp object.

Identification documents on the victim indicated that he hailed from Meru County by the name, Benjamin Kinyanga.

According to Mr. Oloo preliminary investigations show that the deceased stayed with two men friends.

“No arrests have been made so far in connection with this incident but detectives have started investigations in an effort to bring culprits to book,” he said adding “I would advise married men to avoid living together in the same house with other men unless they are blood relations,” he advised.

Mr. Oloo underlined the importance of the Nyumba Kumi Initiative which he said was very essential in the provision of security services.

The commander said that security patrols would be enhanced and called on residents to report suspected criminals to the authorities.

The body was removed to Marsabit Referral Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
