Police Monday launched investigation into a shooting incident that took place on Sunday at Murmoi village Chepkurkur sub location Cheptais sub county Bungoma County.
According to the area OCPD Mwita Marwa a member of the public reported at Kipsigon police station of an unknown male adult lying beside the road.
Marwa added that police on duty rushed to the scene to confirm that the deceased was a male adult farmer named Mulol Ndiwa aged 30.
He further noted that the body had a skull that was badly disfigured since it was suspected that it had been eaten by dogs.
Police also established that there were visible gunshot wounds in the chest, abdomen and another one at the back of the head.
“At the scene three spent cartilages of 39mm special and a mobile phone suspected to be of the deceased were recovered,” he noted.
Tension remains high in the area as the deceased is a nephew to the assistant chief of the area Kubura Ndiwa Chemwor.
Police have transferred the body to Bungoma referral hospital for post-mortem.
