Police intensify war against illicit brews in Tana River

Police in Tana River County have intensified the war against illicit brews and 3rd generation liquor, where 3500 litres of busaa and makole were netted.

Speaking to the press in his Hola office, Tana River Deputy County Commissioner Joseph Lenkarie said the illicit brews were found buried underground in Kibuyu estate and Malindi ya Ngwena estate in Hola Town.

The suspects ran away after seeing the police and they crossed over River Tana to avoid arrest.

Lenkarie also warned that bars selling illicit brew and 3rd generation liquor will be closed down indefinitely and their licenses withdrawn.

He called on those who want to drink to take the recommended beers and avoid counterfeit or 3rd generation brews, which were unfit for human consumption.

The deputy county commissioner said the crackdown will continue till all the culprits are brought to book.
