Police intensify crackdown to contain Covid-19 in Kisii

Police in Kisii County have launched a crackdown on hotels, bars, and individuals who breach Ministry of Health Covid-19 guidelines after the county recorded increasing cases of infection.

Addressing the press at his office in Kisii town, the County Commissioner Alan Machari said some bar operators have continued to flout Covid-19 protocols despite having been penalized in the past.

“We have agreed in our intergovernmental committee with the county government that henceforth, we shall cancel licenses of all bar operators found flouting measures aimed at containing the pandemic,” warned Machari.

The County Commissioner also warned that his team will arrest and prosecute those who break the Covid-19 protocols and reminded residents that rules banning social gatherings were still operational.

The Kisii County Public Health Department on Friday closed all churches for 14 days in Birongo Ward, Nyaribari Chache Sub- County, following the upsurge of Covid-19 infections among some church members of Birongo Central SDA Church.
