Police in Migori County have arrested a man purporting to be a Criminal Investigations Officer after he tried to con a nurse at Migori Level Five County Hospital.
The fake police officer identified as Anthony Okemwa Obare had gone to the hospital with intention of soliciting for bribe from the nurse who suspected him and called the police.
The police officers then waylaid and arrested him near Migori Huduma Center.
Migori Police County commander Joseph Nthenge said that Obare had used police fake Identification Card from Criminal Investigations Department, while attempting to con the nurse.
Nthenge advised those who may have been conned to record statement with police to enable prosecution and conviction of the suspect.
The police commander further urged the public to demand identification from anybody claiming to be a police officer in future.
