Police imposter escapes death by a whisker

An administration police impostor escaped being lynched by irate members of the public in Eldoret town on Tuesday, after his cover was blown by street children.

The man, clad in full police uniform and masquerading as a policeman on patrol was descended upon by boda boda operators and hawkers after he solicited for bribes from them.

Eye  witnesses said the fake policeman started demanding for bribes when he landed in town as early as 8am, before street children along Barngetuny Plaza raised the  alarm alerting the public that the man was a conman.

Confirming the incident, Eldoret West OCPD, Zachariah Bitok said the conman who was also found in possession of handcuffs and some ammunition was arrested and was  being investigated after which he will prosecuted.

The impostor was cornered near Barngetuny plaza by the mob that beat him thoroughly before local police officers arrived and rescued him on being alerted that ‘their colleague’ was being lynched.
