Police in Baringo North have mounted a search for a 45 year old father of four from Kelyo location who allegedly defiled his three daughters and infected them with a sexually transmitted disease.
According to area Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), Joseph Obwocha, the man committed the act on Tuesday night in his home where he was living alone with the children.
The wife is said to have deserted the home last December to escape an abusive marriage and returned to her maiden home leaving behind three girls and a boy aged four, seven, eleven, and fourteen years under the care of the man.
Speaking to the press in his Kabartonjo office on Thursday, Obwocha said that the suspect was forced to live with all his children under the same house and shared the same bed with all of them.
The DCC said after being defiled repeatedly on the fateful night, the eldest daughter confided to a neighbour in the morning what their father had done to them and the woman immediately reported the matter to the local chief.
They were first taken to the police station by the chief to report the matter before proceeding to the hospital for examination and treatment.
After committing the beastly act, the man is said to have disappeared from the home where up to now his whereabouts are unknown.
“My officers are trying the best they can to apprehend the suspect said to be armed with a machete and hiding somewhere within the sub county,” said Obwocha.
He asked the local residents to stay vigilant and pass vital information to security officers that will assist in arresting the culprit.
The DCC said that the children recorded statements at Kabartonjo police station before being taken for medical examination at Kabartonjo sub-county referral hospital where results indicated that the minors were actually sexually defiled.
A senior clinical officer at Kabartonjo hospital, Sammy Kirwok said they conducted medical examination on the three children and found out that the minors aged seven and 11 year had bruises on their genitals.
The tests, the clinical officer also stated, showed that all the three daughters had been infected with Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI).
The County Children Coordinator, Otijom Omutse condemned the heinous act and vowed that his office will not relent until the culprit is brought to book and made to face the full force of the law.
Omutse said they have now placed the children under the care of the mother as police officers pursue the fugitive and investigations continue to be carried out.
