Siaya county police commander Francis Kooli today called on law enforcement officers to embrace integrity and focus on effective service delivery to climb the career ladder in the National Police service.
Kooli said that the National Police service was now going for the best officers to head various cadres in the service hence the need for all officers to up their game.
He was addressing officers of various ranks who are scheduled to appear before the county selection board for promotion interviews.
“The police service is currently focused on quality service delivery and reforms and needs officers who are focused,” he said adding that more emphasis was being put on the requirements of chapter six of the constitution that demands public officers to be individuals of high integrity.
On security in the county, Kooli said that the police officers have managed to contain insecurity.
“The only area where there is a challenge is where people make personal decisions, such as suicide and murder as a result of brawls and domestic quarrels where police cannot be able to mitigate” he said.
Kooli said that crackdowns on illicit liquor dens have been intensified after realization that such joints contribute to insecurity.
“These are centres for idling and criminals use them to meet and plan. Intensified raids have helped reduce crimes in the county,” he said.
