Police arrest 18 people for breaching covid-19 protocols

Police in Makueni Sub County on Friday night arrested 18 people who were found drinking against the Covid-19 guidelines put forth by the Ministry of Health.
The arrest occurred at the homestead of one Shadrack Makau (37) at Malivani village,
Unoa Sub location, Wote location where they were found drinking in a gathering while
playing loud music on Friday at around 10pm, an hour past start of curfew.
Makueni County Police Commander Joseph Ole Naipeyan confirmed the incident saying
the suspects were taken to Makueni police station where they are being detained according to
covid-19 guidelines.
Speaking on telephone to KNA on Saturday, the county boss also revealed that
police had obtained an invoice belonging to a beer wholesaler in Wote town who sold the beer in
large quantities, allegedly to the suspects.
Ole Naipeyan said that the license of the wholesaler would be confiscated if found culpable.
Those who were found drinking were aged from 21-58 years and will be arraigned in
court after investigations are complete.
