The Kenya Wildlife Services officers arrested two poachers who were armed with machetes, a big torch and pangas after killing a giraffe at Dubandubusa area in Masalani division, Ijara Sub County.
The two had also a motorcycle they were using to transport the giraffe meat to town either for sale or for the domestic use.
The male Pokomo duo were arrested Sunday after killing the giraffe but one with the motor cycle escaped.
Contacted for comment, the KWS warden Mr Pascal Magiri confirmed the incident and promised to take the culprits to court in Garissa.
He commended area residents for vital volunteering information to the Kenya Wildlife Service officials in Ijara station and called on them to continue volunteer giving such leads, which will be treated in utmost confidentiality.
