Person with disabilities receives donations

More than 20 people with disabilities in Tetu Sub County, Nyeri County, received equipment worth 630,000 donated by the National Fund for the Disabled of Kenya.

Speaking during the occasion held at the Tetu County Commissioner Office, the Funds representative, Amos Okeyo, said the fund mandate was meant to uplift the lives of those with disabilities and ensure they live dignified lives.

Moreover, the beneficiaries received sewing machines, farming tools, mobility devices, welding machines, and salon equipment.

The speaker advised the beneficiaries to effectively utilise the equipment and not succumb to the temptation of selling it.

“I urge all beneficiaries not to sell these tools but to utilise them to generate sustainable income and support their families,” he stated.

On the other hand, Okeyo urged the County Government and other stakeholders to collaborate with the National Fund to ensure the identification and provision of essential support for all disabled individuals.

“We must work together to uplift every member of our community,” Okeyo said.

Tetu Assistant County Commissioner, Lawrence Oguchu, expressed gratitude to the beneficiaries for their use of the tools and urged them to effectively utilise them.

Meanwhile, Ruth Wangari, who received farming equipment, expressed her happiness, stating that it will help her pay school fees and provide food for her family.

Thus, Wangari encouraged parents who have children with disabilities not to hide them in homes; instead, they should seek help from the government.

Stephen Mugo Wangui, a Kenyan youth who received a welding machine, expressed gratitude to the National Fund for the Disabled of Kenya for its wise use.
