The Mt Kenya Yes Pastors Forum has unanimously resolved to support the BBI which they claim contains clauses which will benefit area residents.
The religious leaders said after being taken through the document recently by experts in Nairobi in the presence of the ODM Chief Raila Odinga, they realized the Initiative had a lot of benefits to Mt. Kenya region.
Through their chairman Archbishop Dr Daniel Njagi, the members of the clergy said they will embark on massive civic education to ensure the congregants fully understand the document.
“I Am sure after we take through our faithful over the document, they will be able to make an informed decision when the time to subject the BBI to a referendum comes,” Njagi said.
Speaking to the media in Mwea yesterday after a meeting with other church leaders, Njagi said they would ensure the entire region was fully enlightened on the document.
Njagi who was commissioned by ODM to champion the BBI within Mt Kenya region said he was certain the document will sail through.
The Cleric who in 2013 surprised the region by vying for the Mwea Parliamentary seat on an ODM ticket and managed a third position also urged locals to change their mindset that Raila was against the region.
“You can imagine how hostile the region was against the ODM but I still managed a third position in Mwea and this clearly demonstrated how popular I am and the same I can guarantee will prevail once the BBI is subjected to a referendum, “Njagi asserted.
