Pastor Caught With Fake Money

A  Pastor  was  arraigned in a Kwale Court  on Monday charged with being in possession of Sh.10, 000 in fake currency.

John  Kivuti  of  Lamu based  Jesus Winners Chapel Church, pleaded guilty to the charge before  Kwale  Chief Magistrate, Dominica Nyambu.

The turbaned man was arrested on May 7 this year in Lunga Lunga after depositing fake Sh.2000 at an Mpesa outlet after which he went away.

On  realizing  the money was not genuine, the shop owner, Juma Bwika ran after the suspect and managed to catch up with him.

The  suspect who was later handed over to the police produced Sh.8, 000 more in fake currency during  interrogation.

The  prosecution told the court that the currency notes were taken to Central Bank of Kenya for confirmation and an exhibit memo from the bank shows that the notes did not have a signature.

However, the  court  withheld its ruling on the case until a pre-sentence report is presented by the probation department.
