Mumias East OCPD Mohammed Kulo has urged parents to track movement of their children to keep them off from being in conflict with the law.
The OCPD advised parents of especially girl-child to monitor the people they interact with to avoid falling prey to men with unbecoming behaviour.
“We should ensure proper upbringing of our children by being close to them and having a caring attitude,” he added.
This comes as Western Regional Police Commander Kiprono Lang’at warned parents against subjecting their children to child labor.
He said police officers are carrying out an intensive operation against parents who sent their children to sell items in markets across the region.
“Children who loiter in markets might easily be influenced badly or fall into bad company that will destroy their future,” he noted.
He said they have observed a high number of children hawking items such as carrier bags, nuts and other items in markets and along Kakamega general hospital as this makes some of them lose interest in education or perform dismally.
