Over 30,000 students to sit for KCSE in Makueni County

The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education KCSE) national examinations kicked off well in the 10 sub counties where 30,330 candidates will sit in 906 centres in Makueni County, the County Director of Education (CDE) Charles Nyakundi has said.

Nyakundi said this today at the County Commissioner’s (CC) Office noting that 15,523 girls and 14,807 boys are expected to sit for the examinations and will start with English and Chemistry respectively.

This year, there are no candidates who will sit for examinations in prison as witnessed in the previous years.

“As you can see, the centre managers have come to collect examinations papers and we expect the students to do their examination without any problem,” said Nyakundi while addressing centres managers at CC’s office on Monday.

“We shall have a total of 85 candidates in the county who will sit for the examinations under the continuing programme whereby 45 male and 38 female from 9 sub counties will do exams from Kambi Mawe while 1 female and male each will do from Matiliku Centre in Nzaui Subcounty,” said Makueni County Director of Continuing Education Priscah Nduku.

Addressing the same event, Makueni Subcounty Police Commander Winnie Siele said that security officers were ready to offer maximum security saying there will be at least 2 officers in every centre.

On his party, Makueni Subcounty Deputy County Commissioners Rashid Kwanya assured parents that security will be offered in the centres and warned against any malpractices during the examination period saying the culprits will face the maximum force of the law.
