Over 100km stalled Gichugu road projects to resume

The government will recall contractors back to their respective sites to continue with about 100 kilometers of stalled road works in Gichugu Constituency.

The contractors, who allegedly abandoned the sites owing to unpaid claims, will now resume after government settles the pending bills, thus allowing them to operate optimally until completion.

Gichugu MP Robert Gichimu stated that delayed payment of bills has been a huge hindrance to government projects, not only in Kirinyaga, but the entire country.

“All stalled roads in Gichugu, approximately 100km of roads, will resume and be completed within the current financial year,” he said.

He added that in order to ensure smooth implementation, no other new road will be started, until they first complete the pending ones.

The MP was speaking at Kiambui comprehensive school after he delivered three modern classrooms and other rehabilitated amenities, through funding from the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF)

The new classrooms will accommodate the Junior Secondary School (JSS) students, thus easing congestion and making the learning environment conducive.

Kiambui Comprehensive School is one of the populous basic learning institutions the constituency with a total of 715 pupils from PP1 to JSS.

The MP said during the next financial year, focus will be on renovation of the existing old classrooms and construction of new ablution blocks.
