Over 10,000 Candidates sit for KCSE exams in Laikipia

A total of 10,851 candidates are sitting for Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams in Laikipia County this year.

Laikipia county director of education Reverend Francis Shikanda speaking during the exam container opening in Nanyuki told media that there were 143 centres with 132 and 11 for both public and private schools respectively.

“Laikipia County has 10,325 candidates for public schools, 526 for private students who are sitting for exams in 143 centres,” noted Shikanda.

He pointed out that all measures to curb malpractices have put in place, while at the same urging the center managers to adhere to them for credible exams.

“We have started well in all our containers and reminded centre managers of their core business to ensure the laws governing exams this year they are strictly adhered to,” said the Director.

Laikipia County Commissioner (CC) Onesmus Kyatha noted that security was beefed up in all the 143 exams centres and there were no anticipated challenges on the administration of the national exams in the area.

“The exams have been issued smoothly and we don’t anticipate any problems. All the necessary arrangements have been put in place on transport and security for a credible exams administration,” said Kyatha.

The CC highlighted that a multi-agency team was ready to address any issues that would arise as the candidates sit for their exams until the final day.

“In case of any issue we have a strong team that has already been mobilized in order to ensure we successfully conclude this exam exercise without interruptions,” he assured.

Meanwhile, over 960,000 candidates are sitting for KCSE this year across the country that is expected to conclude on Friday 21, 2024. On Monday, the mass exam started with English and Chemistry paper 1.

On Tuesday, they will sit for mathematics paper 1 and English paper 2, Wednesday will be Chemistry paper 2 and English composition. Thursday, Kiswahili paper 1 and Kiswahili Insha, and Friday Chemistry paper 3 (practicals).

Other exams from next week will be Mathematics paper 2, Kiswahili Fasihi, Christian Religious education paper 1 and 2, Islamic education religion, Hindu education religion, Biology, History and government, Geography, physics, business studies and Agriculture.
