Over 100 families in insecurity prone areas receive Relief Food

Community Based Organization has given out food and nonfood items to a total of 100 residents in Bartabwa ward in Baringo North Sub-County to mitigate effects of insecurity and ravaging drought.

Imarika peace and mediation initiative led by their Executive Director Francis Yato distributed food, sanitary pads and clothing to the affected persons. The donation focused on women and children who are most affected.

The CBO that was formed in 2021 aims to support vulnerable members of the society especially women and children by spreading hope to residents who are prone to cattle rustling attacks.

“We have come together as friends and colleagues to fundraise and we have brought 18 bags of maize, clothing including beddings and shoes plus sanitary pads for young girls to help the victims of insecurity and give them hope,” Yator said.

Speaking during the distribution at Toboroi Primary School, Kinyach location, senior chief Wilson Lokobwa thanked the well-wishers for their support saying it would go a long way in mitigating hunger that has greatly affected the locations especially Kinyach children’s home that had 260 children who were being sheltered.

On the insecurity situation, Lokobwa said security had been improved and thanked national government for beefing up security noting that affected schools like Kapturo, Chepkesin, Kapngwetio would be re-opened up as security was now restored.

Rusi Chepketeny, a beneficiary, expressed her gratitude for the generous gesture and asked residents to be champions of peace.
