Siaya Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), Joseph Sawe, has told Chiefs and their Assistants to arrest those defying the ban on playing loud music during the national examinations period.
The DCC issued the order saying that students needed peaceful environment to prepare and sit for their KCPE and KCSE exams. He said this at a meeting with the administrators in Siaya town yesterday.
Mr. Sawe said some people still played loud disco music day and night, to raise funds for funerals, which he said could be done without the music.
He said the disco ban was still in force, so nobody should apply for permits for whatever reason, including for funerals.
“Besides disturbing peace for exams, night discos also contributed to crime such as violence and breaking into houses,” said Mr. Sawe.
He therefore required Chiefs and their Assistants to be vigilant, to arrest those who would defy the ban and have their music equipment confiscated.
