Maralal town has been brought to a standstill after fuel station operators went on a go slow to protest the recent reduction of fuel prices by the Energy Regulatory Commission.
Residents complained that despite the availability of fuel, the operators were not selling the commodity whose cost the regulator reduced .
One litre was reduced by Sh 9.33 (petrol), Sh 10.04 (diesel and Sh 3.52 (Keorsene).
In Maralal the regulator says the maximum recommended cost of fuel should be 108.61, 106.81 and 106.28 for Super petrol, Diesel and Kerosene respectively.
Traders have been charging Sh 128 per litre of petrol.
Boda boda operators have accused the petrol station owners of hoarding fuel to cause an artificial shortage.
They asked the government to rein in on the operators.
The operators declined to speak to the press.
