Tarmacking of the Cleanshelf -Nakeel Primary School Road in Ongata Rongai is currently underway. The construction of the road project was launched by Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku to create easy access to shopping centres.
During the launch of the project, the governor assured Kajiado North residents of his commitment to change the landscape of the area and honour the promises he made.
Upgrading of the roads is expected to change the face of Ongata Rongai and boost its economic growth by attracting more investors to the town.
Expansion of the road network and opening up of highly populous estates in Kajiado North forms one of the items in Governor Lenku’s administration’s Rapid Results Initiative (RRI) programme.
Lucy Ndirangu, an Ongata Rongai resident, said it was a good initiative by the county government to implement development projects in the area while calling for speedy completion of the tarmacking before the rains start.
“I appreciate the work the county government is doing in the construction of this road. It was long overdue. I would like the authorities to conduct this exercise with haste because the state of this road with the construction work ongoing is deplorable. When it rains, I fear it will become almost impassable,” she said.
The road is one of three launched by Governor Lenku in a road tarmacking project in Kajiado North. Other roads set to benefit from the project are the Juanco-Olepolos road in Oloolua Ward and the ring road around the proposed new market in Kiserian town.
