Homa Bay Directorate of Criminal Investigation’s (DCI) detectives have arrested a suspect and recovered a stolen container belonging to Ocean Fright Limited shipping company.
The container is one of the two which were allegedly stolen from the County Department of Roads two years ago.
Homa Bay County DCI boss Daniel Wachira said the suspect, a woman, was nabbed Friday evening by a team of detectives at her place in a neighboring County.
The recovered container is one of the two containers worth Sh 700,000 which disappeared from the roads department under unclear circumstance on diverse dates between May 5, 2017 and April 3, 2018 after they were used to deliver road construction implements from Mombasa to Homa Bay.
Wachira confirmed the arrest and recovery of the container saying the officers who has been tracing the whereabouts of the containers found the woman hiding it at her place in Muhoroni.
Wachira said that upon interrogation, the woman revealed to the officers that the container was taken there by her brother in law but she did not give his name.
He said that the suspect is at Homa Bay Police station for further interrogations.
He said that the detectives are still tracing the whereabouts of another container which is still missing.
