One killed in  Nakuru-Eldoret highway accident

One person has died after the bus they were travelling in was involved in an accident in the Twin Bridge area along the Nakuru-Eldoret highway.

Kuresoi North Sub-County Police Commander, Judah Gathenge, confirmed the incident, saying that rescue operations are underway to rescue  passengers trapped in the bus.

The bus belonging to the Simba bus company hit a stationary truck by the roadside, collided with another vehicle, forcing it to veer off the highway, and overturned into a ditch.

He urged motorists to be extra cautious when plying this dangerous highway that has claimed the lives of many, with the most recent one being early this week in the Migaa area, which claimed the lives of 14 people after the Coast bus is said to have lost its brakes and rammed into a small vehicle that had five occupants in it.

The accident caused a huge traffic snarl up along the highway, and motorists have been advised to use alternative routes as the Red Cross response team tries to assist in rescuing the survivors.
