Dr. Ochilo Ayacko has been declared the winner of the Migori Gubernatorial seat after a stiff competition that attracted eight competitors.
Ayacko was declared the winner by the Migori County Returning Officer and Election’s Manager Mr. Ben Moseti after garnering 175, 226 votes.
Ayacko won the seat on an ODM ticket, an affiliate party under the Azimo La Umoja One Kenya Alliance defeating his closest rival John Pesa who managed to get 126,171 votes, a 49,050 vote margin.
Ochilo was the current Senator of Migori, a seat he won in a by election after the death of Ben Okello in 2018. He also served as the Rongo Constituency MP from 1997 to 2007.
In his acceptance speech, Ayacko said that he will reconcile with his competitors to ensure that the County achieves growth. He also added that his administration will fight corruption and increase county revenue collection.
