Nyeri Woman Rep donates tanks to Karemeno residents

Karemeno residents in the Kieni West sub-county in Nyeri have received a major boost after Nyeri County Women’s Representative Rahab Mukami donated a 10000-liter reservoir tank for use.

Speaking when she donated the water tank Mukami said Women and children are the most affected by water shortage saying ‘’Women take water issues very seriously.’’

She said the borehole was drilled and used during the colonial times.

Unfortunately, the borehole broke down a long time ago adding that efforts are being made to revive it and ensure its full utilization.

This week, the community was excited to receive a major boost of a 10000-liter reservoir tank from Rahab Mukami.

The legislator said the boost of the 10000-liter reservoir tank will be used as storage for water from the said borehole once it’s revived.

Members of the community who draw water from the borehole thanked Mukami for the support saying it was indeed a support that was long overdue.

The Newcity business community as well as the surrounding households will now have a reliable source of water.

She added that Plans are underway to draw piped water to the community as well as drill more boreholes to mitigate the water shortage adding that a Hydrological survey has already been done at the Karemeno Health Center and an appropriate site for borehole drilling has been identified.

The new borehole (when drilled) will serve Karemeno Health Center, Karemeno(county) shopping center, Karemeno Secondary School, Karemeno Primary School, and the surrounding households.

Loise Muthoni a resident, thanked the women’s rep for the donation saying they can now be able to carry on with their duties as mothers comfortably saying most of their time was using it for looking for water.
